An overactive imagination

Dunk.

Hello, good day.

One of the benefits of being a blogger is that you get to think of new blog topics as you go about your day.

I didn’t know that when I published my first blog post that I was opening a box as far as creativity goes.

There you go.

I pray a lot that God gives me the right words to convey my thoughts to the people who read my blog,

God bless you who ever you are and where ever you are.

The message gets transmitted over the internet webs through the magic of electricity, wifi, engineering, programming, computers, technology, all sliced up into little tiny bits and then it magically re appears in your inbox and on your screens on the other side of the world.

The pretty picture that someone took at in the remote parts of the world are here for us to enjoy. Of course, people are going to be criticized for walking and bumping into poles with their phones, there is just too much to consume.

At the same time, writing is fun.

My overly creative imagination listens to masters who remind me that I have the ability to do this.

One tells the story of when he and his twin were adopted by an aunt at a young age and she promised to never separate them. He tells the story of when he was looking for his first job and he asked the man if he needed some help and was sent away.

He tells the story better than I do so please let him tell his story and I shall tell mine.

My story started in a small town.

My friends and I would hang out after school. When I was younger I found enormous satisfaction in taking the full sink of dishes and making the sink shine. Maybe that is how a carpenter works when they build furniture.

Yesterday, during my reading I came across a list of the 100 bloggers to watch this year. I had read and heard about three of them. The writer had put in some time to make the list but I couldn’t get through the entire reading in one sitting because it just seemed too big and too much information to me — though it is a good reference!

I would have liked it to have been shorter. Everyone seems to be a marketer who gets synthesized into labels and as most creatives agree, they like to stay away from labels.

These interweb folk insist you need things like a funnel, a niche, a label, to be expert. Some writers are down to earth and those are the ones I adore. You can tell because they will live stream in their pajamas with their hair wet.

I think about blogging goals and selling goals.. I am a writer. I did make my course, and people who have taken it love it and appreciate it but I don’t like to sell. I am not sure if artists like being salespeople. The fun part of art is in the making, at least for me.

although I do love when someone buys one of my paintings!

It is the selling of the book or the painting or the song that the marketing folk step in and take over.

I like to think that all people are writers, singers, artists and so on.

What happens is that as a life long dedicated learner, the journalist in me takes over and remembers her lessons on  price, product, place and positioning from her ad days.

I think that one of goals of any marketer are to increase reach. That is why, when I started blogging, I got caught up in the numbers of how many people I was reaching.

That is where overwhelm steps in and you will read about the effect of too much information.

Here is my second attempt to break it down for you. lol.

If you are going to talk to people, then just do that. Just talk to them. If you want to get your message out to more people then use what you have available.

If you want to get fancy, then study and model how experts do it and then try your best to do how they have written and sold without stealing.

I’ll give you an example. Once my friend saw a painting of mine and asked me to paint one for him. I took out a painting I absolutely loved and inspired me and looked at it and tried to copy a master. Of course, the painting didn’t look anything like the original because my hand is very different, every color was different, the subject was different, the brush strokes were heavier but in the end I loved the painting. I feel the original was my teacher for that painting.

I am not reinventing the wheel.

Does it feel like I am just talking about nothing, and blathering on?

The cat is making snoring sounds while I sleep. Not snoring more like erm ha chica mm sounds deep in her sleep. A new day has dawned full of hope, wonder, joy and anticipation of good things to come and for that I am truly thankful.

I appreciate it that you chose to follow my blog and read my missives. I wish you well today and every day.

My best to you and yours.
